This architectural project entailed a total renovation of a two-storey, classic Mallorcan house, beautifully nestled in the heart of Palma. Covering an area of 250m2, the renovation also included a 50m2 extension of the old existing house. The project’s highlight is a newly introduced swimming pool, surrounded by the romantic ambiance of the garden. The design strategy focused on creating open spaces, while distinctly separating public and private zones. The project features natural and sustainable materials, and a sustainable system for heating and cooling, thereby acknowledging and preserving the house’s traditional character. The addition of contemporary elements highlighted the house’s historical charm. The house was designed to seamlessly blend with the enchanting garden that surrounds it, reflecting a minimalistic Mediterranean style and ensuring it remains a complementary feature of Palma’s beautiful cityscape.
42_AMA is not only observed, it is felt. The passing of the day, the variations of light and shadow, the warmth of the materials under the sun, anchor us to the present and allow us to perceive time as a soft whisper on the skin. It evokes the calm and spirituality of spaces that embrace the human being.
